BACKGROUND

Shri Pravin Sinha IGP-Junagadh division and Sh. M P S Pawar SP Junagadh have the vision to organize a mega health camp for the police personnel of Junagadh division. The focus of the camp have to on complete medical check up of the police personnel along with their family members. Few police personnel’s from Bhavnagar, Amreli and Porbandar districts involved in the camp Latter on, it has been extended to involve to special schools like , Ashadip (Working for Mental Illness ), Shishu Mangal ( Orphan child care and education), Mangal Murti (Mentally retired children), Andhajan Kanya Shala ( Blind girls), Apna Ghar (Old Age Home), Vrudha Asharam, Bhikshuk Gruh, Bhahera Munga School (Deaf and Dump), National Blind Association and patients from economically backward /slum based down trodden, deprived and general communities of Slam areas of i.e. Sukhnath chowk, Ambedkarnagar, Kadiawad, Gandhigram, Journalist: - Journalist of Junagadh based forum and its member and Forensic science experts.

The camp has comprise best of Specialist and Super specialist doctors like Cardiologist, Ophthalmologist, Orthopedics, Suregeons, General Physician, Skin Specialist, ENT, Gyencologist, Neurophysician, Nephrologist, Cardiologist, Gastroenterologist, Oncologist etc.

Routine lab investigation- Hb%, Blood grouping & typing, RBS, ECG, Spirometery (Lung Function Test), ultrasound, eye check up, dental chair, 2 D Echo, Bone Mineral Density checkup etc. has carried out at the venue of the camp. Detailed testing to be carried out at the identified laboratories

The Ambuja Cement Foundation a social development organization have taken sponsorship to organize a health camp for the personnel of Junagadh police with the partnership of IMA (Indian Medical Association) District Health Department-Junagadh and Civil Hospital -Junagadh

TARGET OF THE BENEFICIARIES

Approximately 2000 patients from all the target groups from the different segment of the society were assumed to be the part of the camp.

Police: - Primary stakeholder was police department which details as follows.

 Junagadh Police ( A & B division), PTC and SRP
 Veraval division
 Mangrol division
 Keshod division
 Police personnel from Amereli district
 Police personnel from Bhavnagar district
 Police personnel from Porbandar district

CSO- Junagadh based Civil Society Organizations were involved.

Communities: - Economically backward /slum based community of following locality were undertaken. 150 patients from each of the locality were targeted.

VENUE OF THE CAMP: Police community hall, Police Pared Ground – Junagadh.

Two stories community hall have facilities of big size halls and separate rooms. The camp venue was converted in central air conditioning for better conformability. Well equipped medical check up laboratory was installed at venue place.

HEALTH AWARENESS EXHIBITION AT CAMP VENUE

District health department Junagadh has arranged various stalls on health awareness, display on awareness posters and banned on HIV/AIDS awareness. Aruvedic and homeopathic medicines outlets have been arranged at the Camp. Yoga stall was also arranged with displayed various posters and banners.

MEDICAL STORE DESKS:

All required medicines have procured in advance and arranged systematic to manage time and large numbers of patients in short duration. Pharmacies provided services for distribution of medicals as prescribed by the specialist doctors. Also developed linkages with well established medical stores for provided any exceptional medicines prescribed by the doctors and not available at the camp store.

Timing : 8.00 am to 2.00 pm

Follow up camp organized on : 25th April 2010

Further consulting on the report of medical check up, detail investigation, a follow up camp was organised on 25th April next Sunday of the camp. The venue was arranged at city based Hospital namely Trimurthi Hospital.

PRE CAMP PREPARATION

Consultations - Under guidance of Shri Pravin Sinha IGP- Junagadh division and Sh. M P S Pawar SP Junagadh, regular meeting had organised with representatives of ACF, IMA, ASP, and NGO personnel on every alternate day was conducted to find out the progress made by both of side. Review of the progress was monitored and input given on allotted work.

A. Pre – Existing Ailment Registration
This has been decided in the meeting that screening of patient of pre -existing ailment will be done before the camp to manage the patients and utilize the resources promptly. Estimation was made to screening of the 2500 patients simultaneously.

B. Action Taken
4 teams have been constituted to impart this activity. Each team has one qualified doctor, nurse, Community influencer and representative of Ambuja cement foundation. Teams have been allotted the locality and screened the patients. This activity was completed on 9th April 2010 where 2500 patients were screened for the Mega medical camp. Photos were taken to the patients while patient details with their age, sex, and treatment details have been computerized. Their Identity card have been prepared with the help of Junagadh Police department and distributed to the patients 3 days before.

C. Press conference & Banner displayed :-

Press confrence was addressed by Shri Pravin Sinha about the Mega camp which has been sechduled for the benfeciareis of junagadh police , local community and journals .

Banners have been displayed in the city areas to inform the community for the Mega camp, venue date and. News was flashed in local news channel and news paper.

3. Doctors list and camp details briefing session with Doctors.
4. Photography and video documentary
5. Informative banners and displayed at various place.
6. Contact list of involved agencies and suppliers
7. Stationeries- Prescription pad, pathologist and radiologist tests, pen, registration form, Doctors directories etc.
8. Logistic arrangement
9. Separate email address and blogspot
10. Involved Logo for health camp
11. Appreciation letters for doctors and organizing committee
12. Work distribution of various committee’s Police personnel, Medical staff, IMA and Sponsor.

About 3000 patients were diagnosed and provided medical treatments during the camp.

Patients were reported from all sections as pre camp registered
To provide benefits to non registered patients, a registration counter with team of doctors were arranged at entry site of the camp venue.

Doctors Team

150 Doctors provided free services during the camp. Specialist Doctors from Rajkot and Ahmedabad provided services during the camp. Medical Officers and junior level physicians doctors provided services for screening the patients and managed to provided particular specialist medical consultation and diagnosis

Paramedical Staff

About 50 paramedical staff provided services for support of Doctors and guiding the patients.

Free Medicine to all Patients

Provided free medicines to all patients at camp medical store and for few cases, exceptional medicines, at nearby medical stores of the city

Pathologist and radiologist tests

Pathologist tests were carried out at the laboratory established at camp venue. Radiologist tests were carried out at Civil Hospital Junagadh and at the Privets radiologist centres of the Junagadh city.


Refreshment for all

Full fledge refreshment- drinking water, tea, lunch box have arranged at camp venue. It was sponsored by the city based NGOs.
